Dream Blog Entry #6

So the past few days i haven't really been remembering my dreams...  I supposed that's probably because I haven't really been sleeping that well.  But last night I managed to sleep a good 12 hours, and upon reflection, I can't really recall anything special, except for one short moment I was doing something I've always wanted to do.

I was with a couple of the girls I've shared an amazing first and start to the second year of college with, and we were at a bar somewhere I've never been before (like usual).  due to the fact that it's just about Halloween, there's been a lot of Ghost Hunter shows on TV.  I was think about these midnight escapades of terror and excitement, and I've decided that one of these days, I'm going to find a way to do a lock in at some "haunted" place.  I want to get the cameras and sound recorders, the whole shebang.

But anyways, we were all in this bar, doing just that.  We had probably 4 cameras, one stationed in a back corner watching the whole room, another on the bar, watching from a different perspective, and the other 2 were handheld, and I was manning one.  Each of us had a recorder, and throughout this dream, we all did the whole, try to talk to ghosts, get them to appear, anything interesting deal that all the shows do.  None of it worked, but my group was still generally freaked out the whole time.

This dream really just bolstered the fact that this is something I really want to do in my lifetime.  I'm not overly superstitious or anything, but I do believe that paranormal things happen, and it would be potentially life changing to witness the paranormal.

Speaking of such, I do recall from my childhood, dream or reality, seeing a very faint green glow slowly glide past my bedroom door and hearing the distinct sound of chains dragging behind.  I have also seen what I thought were ghost-like hands reaching around corners at my old house, and seeing things move on their own.  While doing laundry with my mother, a hand towel from the dirty basket jumped out on it's own, we both noticed it and were pretty freaked out by it.  My mom also claims that there was the ghosts of a young boy and girl that lingered around either my or my brother's crib when we were babies.  I'll try to get her to comment on this entry or make a guest post with the full story.

Happy Halloween!

Dream Blog Entry #5

Throughout High School, I had this swimming coach, Jon Aue.  I grew more and more fond of him as the years passed, and still talk to him today.  Well I mention this because he was in my odd dream last night.  He was my coach again, but of some weird sport I'm going to have to explain.

It wasn't related to any sport I know of, except maybe capture the flag, or similar to Sabotage on Call of Duty.  Four players, two from each team laid on their stomachs at the outside of this giant bowl (similar to a skating/biking bowl).  It was about 10-12 feet deep, and probably around 20 feet across.  in the center was a ball, about the size of a basketball, but solid black, and it weighed around 30 lbs.  The goal was to slide in (on your stomach) beat the other team to the ball, through either speed or aggression, then carry that ball back out the way you came and place it on the pedestal behind where you started.

Also, while in the bowl, the players had to remain on at least their knees, only those in possession of the ball and those outside of the bowl were allowed to stand and run.  Tackling was allowed, same with holding, pushing/shoving, dragging, and basically fighting.  When the ball was placed on the pedestal, a point would be rewarded, and the players would return to their starting positions.  This was the only time you could switch players or call TO's as well.  To reset the ball, the ref would simply drop it back into the bowl, and through what seemed like magnets and a small raised circle at the center, the ball would locate itself and once it was steady, the next round would start.

False Starts appeared to be pretty serious, since my partner started early, and was pulled from the round, leaving me by myself against two people much larger than I.  Needless to day I lost that round.   I didn't notice any other penalties, but I'm sure if someone stood in the bowl without possession of the ball they would have been pulled as well.   It seemed like fun; almost makes me want to try and make it a reality.

Dream Blog Entry #4

I realized today how much going to class is going to take away from me being able to post my dreams in as much detail as possible.  I've been awake for about 5 hours now, and all I can remember about my dreams last night is that I did, in fact, have a dream.  I feel like I had two really interesting dreams, but I can only remember a small segment from one.

Dream 1-
Basically, I was sitting outside of a restaurant, waiting to be seated.  It just so happened that my cousin, Erin, was also waiting to be seated.  Apparently, in the dream, I haven't talked to her in a long while, so we conversed about the usual, what we've been up to, what's on our minds, any worries, etc.  Well even though IRL she's employed, and has been for a pretty long time, in the dream she was worried about never finding a job, and almost got her hand "clipped off" by some sort of machinery I can no longer recall.  She had a huge scar with stitches running down the back of her hand from between her middle and ring finger all the way to the back of her wrist.

I'm assuming her being worried about finding a job was a manifestation of my own fear of unemployment and not being able to find a job.  As for the hand, I have no idea.

Between my Botany and Spanish classes, I have a 1 hour break.  I usually spend this time going over Spanish vocab, reading for Myth, or just playing Euchre on my Droid.  Today, however, I was tired, in a comfortable chair, in a quiet, poorly lit hallway.  I started dozing off.  Fear of being messed with, or just looked at funny, I subconsciously tried to keep my self alert, so anytime someone would walk near me, I'd jerk up and look at them (probably drawing attention to my lack of energy and use of public space for sleep).  But in the small increments of half-sleep, I went into that same state of lucidity I mentioned in my first Dream Blog entry.  Whatever I thought of, I was able to visualize with so much clarity it's unexplainable.  It was as if I was in some kind of virtual reality, and whatever I imagined was portrayed in that reality.

Sadly, I was so damn tired that instead of using this seemingly rare opportunity to delve into the depths of my mind and discover something life-changing; I spent this time visualizing pizza, hamburgers, tacos and hot dogs.  I guess I was hungry too.

Dream Blog Entry #3

So last night's dream was pretty average, so I'll sum it up to save space and time, and put detail on the few oddities.

Well to start I was in my childhood home, with my immediate family (including step father and siblings), and my mom had this elaborate scavenger hunt planned which none of us really wanted to do.  But out of we we all started, and I took off on my roller blades (which I haven't used since I was 12) to the ice cream shop down the block (which has never existed).  I met some old neighbors and family friends there, and we talked about Facebook.  I, somehow, got a large amount of glass both of my eyes, and was able to remove it with what felt like a tongue behind each eye lid.  As I left, the whole table sang some song about spaghetti, and I roller bladed my way back to the house.

On my way back, another person on roller blades was walking their tiny chihuahua.  He managed to get ahead of the dog by the length of the leash, and kept commanding the dog to jump.  When the dog jump, he would whip the leash, launching the dog 5-10 feet in the air.  I ended the dream watching this about 15 times.

Dream Blog Entry #2

So I had a rather uneventful sleep last night, but I do remember one odd dream that only someone as addicted as me would have.

I was at the local McDonald's, and I had two Monopoly pieces, one for a free large drink (which I don't believe exists), and one for a free McFlurrie.  The guy at the counter told me I could only use one at a time, so I ordered a large Coke.  As he was filling my cup, I mentioned that I wanted no ice, but he had already put some in, so he replied "Well I can't give you no ice, but I can give you light."  I thought this was fine, and agreed.  After I got my Coke, I stepped back in line, which was just me, and used the other piece to order an M&M McFlurrie.  The guy at the counter seemed as if I didn't remember me at all, despite the fact that I was drinking from the same Coke he gave me.

If I were a dreamologist, or whatever, I would guess that this means I either:

A-  Have a terrible addiction to McDonald's due to the Monopoly game (fact).
B-  Have a subconscious belief that I'm easily forgotten and nobody cares (not too
     fond of this choice)
C-  Need me some drank.

I'm gunna have to go with a combination of choices A and C.

Dream Blog Entry #1

So I decided I'm making a dream log.  Hopefully it will help me become more of a lucid dreamer.  These past few nights I've been waking up after about 3-4 hours of good sleep, and I can usually force myself either back into the dream I was previously having.  Most often I just fall back into the dream, and continue on not realizing that I'm dreaming.  But sometimes I do realize it, and that's when things get awesome.  If the realization doesn't wake me back up, I can control what I dream about.  So far it's been stuff like faces of people I hung out with during the day, or places I was.  But I'm hoping, with practice, I can become fully lucid, and possibly gain full control, kind of like Inception, except without entering other peoples' dreams.

Well anyway, I'm going to post dreams I have, lucid or not, and hopefully I'll gain a better memory out of it.

Dream 1 -
I was in some old mansion's front courtyard, and in an arcade-style fight with this vampire-like monster.  The only thing I remember about it, was that it had tentacle-like appendages with blood-sucking fangs on the end, instead of the usual fangs in the mouth.  As we fought, it would launch one of it's tentacles at me, and lodge the fang into one of my teeth(?).  He would then proceed to siphon blood and this would heal him (noted by the obvious health bar floating above his head) and damage me equally.  I then had to remove the tooth that his fang was attached to, from my jaw.  The fight went on, and after I had lost a majority of my teeth, I finally had slain the beast.  After the fight I entered the mansion, and looked in an old dusty mirror.  After about 15 minutes of looking at my lack of teeth, I realized I could smile in a way to look as if I still had all of my teeth.
I then woke up for unknown reasons.  It was about 4:30 am, and I tried to fall back to sleep, and managed to enter a half lucid trance. I thought about the dream I just had, and as I thought, I could vividly see different things from the dream, but I could still feel myself laying in my bed.  So I thought about people I saw in class the previous day, and I could see them, clear as day.  I was amazed by this, and kept going, thinking of different things, anything that came to mind, and I was able to recreate them flawlessly.  After what seemed like hours of this, I snapped back to full consciousness.  I looked back at the clock at only a few minutes had passed.  I tried again to fall back into the lucid dream or whatever state I was in, but I couldn't.
I laid in bed for another half hour or so trying and eventually just fell back to sleep.

Dream 2 -
I was at Boyne Mountain with my brother, and we decided to play a game of "Don't Touch the Water".  The goal was to make it from one side of the water park to the other, going through all of the obstacles (many of which do not exist at the actual park) without, obviously, touching the water.  Well I attempted jumping across a 20+ foot wide pool, and when I realized I wasn't going to make it, I did this motion like a jellyfish, and launched myself to safety (much like a double-jump in Super Smash Bros.).  I quickly mastered this, and taught Matt how to do it, and we continued our game all over the water park.  Right as I landed on the other side of the park, and it's weird how dreams tend to do this, I woke up to the Six Flags theme on my alarm clock.
